Last weekend I spent the day shooting some homies in Oakland. Two 32’s of High Life, and 20 bottles of Andre later… I ended up with some awesome shots. My body is still sore from our post shoot dance party. :) Can’t WAIT to shoot with these guys again.

When love is real, you dont have to show it. When it is true, everyone will know it. <3

There’s been a lot of change in my life this year… the beginning of new things and the end of old. It had been a couple years since I attended the Mission’s festival, and with all thats been going on, it seemed important that I go this year.
Before the festival I made my way to Botanica Yoruba, a tiny little shop in the Mission. This place is amazing. It’s the size of a closet, covered with dust, and stacked with trinkets, spells, prayer candles, and Vodou supplies. I went there looking for some specific candles, and after a lot of digging, I found them. I have just recently been studying some of the beliefs of Vodou, and when lighting my candles at home I took special care to respect them.
Afterwards, I painted a skull on my face, dressed myself in black, and drank the darkest, earthiest, dustiest glass of wine I could find. Then camera packed, I headed out to pay my respects to the holiday, and the spirits of those we have lost.
